The care and compassion my family and I received during the recent passing of my mom brought us so much comfort at such a difficult time. Marvin and Alan were very professional and kind when they came to our home to receive my mom. Margaret spent a lot of time with us from planning mom's service to the end of the service. Also, with her sweet calming spirit she not only made us calm, she brought smiles and laughter to my family. Betty was gracious during our meetings offering water & coffee. Rick Williams was professional from beginning to end, always having a warm and welcoming smile. I truly felt that everyone at Williams Thomas was sincere and treated our family with the utmost respect.

Wow wow what a great experience with Williams-Thomas Funeral homes. They are simply the best out of Gainesville Fl. They made my mother funeral so much easier than I thought it would be. We used Williams- Thomas Funeral Home 25 years ago for my grandmother. My parents always liked the company. My Uncle who passed away 16 years ago also used Williams-Thomas. When my parents were planning their end of life plans, my father looked at other funeral homes. He decided on Williams Thomas because of the ease of taking care of everything. My beautiful father quietly passed away 12 days ago in our home. From the time of his death , WIlliams Thomas and Haven Hospice, made it a seamless transition. The respect and sympathy the men displayed in gently taking my father's body from our home, Margaret taking over the funeral planning with our church. It was a balm to our distraught and grief stricken hearts. Words cannot express the logistical organization that they provided for a beautiful funeral. From cremation, to death certificates, to prayer cards to organizing with the church, their services were comprehensive. Thank you to Margaret, Rick and the rest of these angels. From the staff to the building itself we loved everything about Williams Thomas Funeral Home. Having to deal with the loss of a loved one is hard enough but everyone at Williams Thomas showed so much compassion and empathy to our entire family. The entire staff at Williams-Thomas was caring, professional, and helpful when my mother passed. From taking the time to sit and talk with our family about options and her wishes to arranging for alternative arrangements for me when I wasn’t ready to see her. They guided us and made us feel like family. Their care for their customers shows from the initial call to even today when I spoke with Allan in a follow up question. My mother passed away in June. We went to Williams Thomas to handle the arrangements. They treated us like family. As difficult as it was emotionally they walked me through every step of the way. They put together a beautiful tribute with pictures we provided and put it to music. They gave me a DVD and I’ve watched it many times during my healing process. I am so grateful we chose Williams Thomas.

We used Williams-Thomas when our son passed away unexpectedly. Margaret and the entire staff worked closely with us to ensure every aspect of what was needed and what we wanted was covered. They kept in mind prices and made sure we always knew what our options were. The staff worked very closely with my husband and myself to create a PowerPoint presentation with music we selected. Losing a loved one is never easy but Williams Thomas went above and beyond to make sure that our family had everything that we needed for a beautiful celebration of life. All of their staff took care of the big things so we could grieve and focus on what mattered. They were understanding and beyond supportive from beginning to end. Linda was absolutely amazing in letting us show up early to put pictures where we wanted. She helped make the “In Memory” video and we will forever cherish that. Williams Thomas Funeral Home made sure that the service was set up and ran the way our family wanted. Alan was very informative and patient with us as we made decisions. Margaret helped me and my father plan his funeral about two years before he died. She was kind and patient with him, explaining everything to him and helping him make choices. When my father died, I made one tearful phone call to her and she was took care of everything. Each of my panicked calls were answered with love, understanding and patience. She reassured me and made me feel secure in a time of emotional upheaval. She helped me make his funeral just the way he and our family wanted, and without any reservations. This Funeral Home provided the Funeral services for our Mother everything was done very nicely. On our arrival we were welcomed and began to make arrangements the staff was very pleasant and helpful not once did they try to upsell us as Mom had almost everything paid for, we asked about the casket Mom choice we asked about upgrading the casket I was pleased to learn the upgrade was only $200.00 I thought it was very reasonable amount not pushy at all. I would recommend this establishment to anyone

I can't say enough positive things about the people here. My whole experience with them was made as easy as possible by their care and expertise. I was treated with the utmost courtesy, my choices were respected and embraced, and guidance and advice were offered (not pushed) where needed. The service was executed beautifully, and the memorial video and tri-fold handouts could not have been more fitting. Well done, and thank you, for making this a beautiful goodbye.

They do a job most cannot imagine at the worst point in your life and really help see you through the process. They gently offered options to create a one if a kind remembrance. No two people live their lives the same and we were able to show how our loved one lived his. Every question was answered respectfully and timely. They treated us like family at every turn. I really can't say enough about the service and caring from everyone involved.

What an amazing group of people. We had the pleasure of working with Vonda at Williams Thomas funeral home. She made an extremely difficult time much better then we could of imagined. From our very first meeting with her she showed so much kindness for each one of us. She was there for us anytime of day with answers to all of our questions. She is knowledgeable and professional. The funeral home did an amazing job with both the viewing and graveside service. They even posted a video of the service so family out of town could view. Can't thank them enough for doing an amazing job.

Margaret and the trusted team at William Thomas Funeral Home has handled our family's funeral needs for 20 years. The staff is warm and caring and works to make what can often be a difficult situation into a time of fond remembrance. The personalized approach they extend to each family and situation, quality and professionalism and excellent attention to detail sets WTFH apart. They treated our deceased loved ones with great respect, and went above and beyond to accommodate special requests for the services that helped bring out the uniqueness of each person and reflect the impact of their lives. The expression "celebration of life" has become somewhat of a cliché in the funeral business, but WTFH actually delivers on this idea, by working with you like a member of the family, going the extra mile and offering special suggestions and making sure the event itself is seamless and worry-free. Finally, as just one specific example of long-term commitment, we recently had to contact WTFH -- nearly two years after a funeral they conducted -- for some assistance needed to settle an estate. Margaret and the staff remembered us like no time had passed, quickly processed the needed paperwork, and kindly declined to accept additional payment for their time. Williams Thomas is an asset to the Gainesville area and is absolutely worth your family's consideration in your time of need.

If you are looking for a Funeral Home that will help you during one of the most difficult times in your life I would highly recommend Williams-Thomas. My parents found Williams-Thomas when they moved to Gainesville. They prearranged everything with Alan and assured me when the time came that he would be there to guide and support me and my brother. My mom passed away in June of 2019 and my dad passed away January 2021. My mom and dad were right, Alan was there every step of the way. He went over all their wishes and was very compassionate. Everything was done with efficiency and care which we appreciated so much since they were being transported to Jacksonville for burial. The transition was seamless. I truly appreciate the professionalism given to us by the staff of Williams-Thomas, thank you!

February, 2023 - We sadly had to call on Williams-Thomas for the second time in two years. We needed their trusted and caring service in an urgent manner and their quick response made all the difference in easing the grief our family was experiencing. We will never be able to express how sincerely grateful we are for how they made themselves available to us literally on a moment's notice. So reassured to know this wonderful team is always just a phone call away. (As an aside, the young medical staff members at the hospital who cared for us, who have little to no experience with funeral homes, were all profoundly touched by their interaction with the Williams-Thomas director who arrived to the hospital. These young men and women came back to us to tell us that the Director was dressed so professionally, carried out his services so thoughtfully, and displayed such compassion that they were all in tears, but very comforted as they placed our love one in his care. Many, many thanks, as always. March, 2021 - Never thought I'd say that planning a funeral was a pleasant experience, but the team at Williams-Thomas made making the perfect arrangements for my father's service easy, and anything but dark or depressing. They strike the right balance between reverent, respectful, light-hearted, kind and attentive. The team, all of whom work seamlessly together, are happy to be flexible enough to perfectly prepare according to budget, vision and family wishes. No hard sells and lots of options for both burial and cremation, so all budget ranges can be beautifully accommodated. Every detail is important to Williams-Thomas to ensure the family's wishes are impeccably carried out. They handled our burial wishes, plus the obituary, the ordering of florals, and even coordination with the cemetery. But for each family they can handle even more details, or way less details, with professionalism, a joyful spirit, and a focus on excellence. I cannot tell you how pleased my mom was at how easy Williams-Thomas was to work with, how beautifully conducted my father's burial was, and the relief she felt when all she had to do was focus on the final goodbye, not the details surrounding it. It was a "God sent experience" that made me choose Williams-Thomas Funeral Homes for my Father's cremation. I had only seen another home before. After my Father's passing, that morning as we were driving back home, I got a God sent experience that told me to go to Williams-Thomas. Our 1st experience with a lady who welcomed us in, touched my heart. I then came to know it was the mother in the law of the owner. Then we met Alan, the Funeral Director. Just seeing him reassured me I was in the right place. Alan then took over from there. For my mother and most of the family this was the 1st experience with crematorial services in the US. They provided us the FB experience for friends/family in the rest of the world to also be present for the viewing and see the services. In this Pandemic time this was another God sent blessing. Overall could not ask for a better send off for my father. God bless all the folks who are connected with providing a humanitarian service through the Williams-Thomas Funeral home.

The thought of shopping around for the best funeral home is a miserable one, right up there with the eventual need to examine the home's itemized bill to make sure the charges line up. Having dealt with several funeral homes in the past few years, most of them unfortunately less-than-upstanding, I can say unconditionally that my experience with Williams-Thomas was as good as one could hope. The charges were accurate and appropriate for the services given, there was no "up-selling," and funeral director Margaret Dickens was kind, considerate, and patient during every interaction.

If I could give 6 stars I would. Margaret at Williams -Thomas is thoughtful, compassionate, organized and kind when I needed it most. Unfortunately I have had to plan 3 funerals in 2 years and, having never had to previously, was helped through the step-by-step process of all of the arrangements including with the florist, the VA, the printer, the local newspaper, the church and the cemetery. They made all the calls once they understood what our wishes were. I felt that every detail was handled (with gentle reminders when needed to stay on schedule) and I would send texts into the evening expecting replies the next day but often receiving a reply very soon after. I can’t say I had any expectations to exceed, but somehow they did anyway. My whole family shares my gratitude and appreciation because they too were touched by the kindness and attention to detail.

The staff at Williams-Thomas put you at ease the moment you first talk with them and/or meet them in person. They are patient, kind, professional, knowledgeable, extremely competitively priced and able to accommodate almost any request you can think of having. They were amazing to work with, prompt, able to meet our scheduling needs and handle everything including catering for a reception on premise, saving us a huge burden of hosting a reception elsewhere ourselves. My Sister, Susan and I, Sharron lost our Mother, Margaret Elizabeth on January 20th of this year. She lived to be 100 years old. We were fine with her passing, because of course, it was time, but we will miss her. We called on Williams-Thomas Funeral Home. It was such a good experience when Margaret came to see us at home. She walked us through all the things necessary to proceed. Sometimes things are hard to deal with but this was not the case here. Everything was taken care of in that afternoon. Two days later we had a beautiful Church Service and Blessing at the graveside. It was everything our Mom had wanted. Margaret guided us all the way. Thank you Margaret and Williams-Thomas for your kindness and care. You made our day of saying goodbye a Blessing.

During one of the hardest times of my life Williams-Thomas Funeral Home and all the employees, especially Margret, were caring and compassionate. They were there every step of the way checking with me and make sure all my mothers wishes were met. The attention to detail they put into everything while I could barely remember what day it was made everything beautiful and easier. Margaret and entire staff at Williams Thomas Funeral Home can not be praised enough for the compassion, kindness, and overall professionalism in which they handled the burial of our Grandfather. The patriotism and respect that was shown towards our WWII hero can't be over stated. The final wishes for our loved one came with several complications that posed no barrier too large for the family at Williams Thomas to overcome. Saying farewell to your mother whom you have known for sixty plus years is never easy. Alan and his team knew the exact things to say and do to make it a little easier. Very professional, soft spoken, accommodating, they provided the required hand holding so that we could let go with the confidence that our beloved mother was in good hands. In particular, their understanding of different cultures and their graciousness and generosity in supporting other cultures is truly remarkable. Thank you for being there at our moment of grief.

I purchased a pre-paid funeral plan with Williams-Thomas ten years ago when my mother entered nursing home care. She died in May, and I immediately reached out to Williams-Thomas. They were extremely responsive and easy to work with. My mother's body had to be transported to SC for burial at our family cemetery. Williams-Thomas took care of every aspect of the transport and burial and did a beautiful job. Thank you Williams-Thomas!

Both my Mom and Dad passed away within months of each other during COVID. As you can imagine, it is a very emotional, trying, and confusing time. Alan and Williams-Thomas Funeral Home took me in and guided me every step of the way. From, how to handle not having a service immediately because of COVID, handling the Obituaries, and explaining what I needed to file immediately, etc...... Margaret and the entire staff at Williams-Thomas could not have been more helpful or sensitive to the needs of our family dealing with the passing of our brother, and friend, John. Despite a serious tropical storm that interrupted our funeral plans, they kept us informed and in close contact with our church and priest. Consequently, the wake, funeral service, and internment were well organized and dignified, providing a fitting tribute to John and comfort for our family. The video memorial they created with our pictures was well done and really captured the spirit of a kind and loving soul! Our family has worked with Williams-Thomas for over thirty years and each time they have diligently and sensitively eased the burden and sorrow of our loss!

They handled every detail of my mother-in-law's arrangements with compassion, respect, and professionalism while making it very personable to our family. We were lucky enough to find Williams Thomas, for my Dad when he passed. Planning a funeral is a very stressful time. You are trying to support your Mother, when you have lost your Father and she has lost her world. Doing all the planning when your heart is somewhere else just feels surreal. The level of professionalism and helpful guidance was superb. Dad was treated so well by the staff that came for him. He was honored for his veteran status in a touching display that touched our hearts. Williams Thomas was available to answer all our questions as they arose. We never felt like we were a bother or that they always called back with the answers we needed. They were and still are, supportive in helping us through this stage of life. When my Mother knew it was getting close we called Williams Thomas, and prearranged her wishes. Knowing the staff this time we felt like we were dealing with family. Margaret, came to the house and talked her through her wishes and found out about her life and all the details. On the day we needed them they were went above and beyond to have Mom make a quiet exit for her last ride. They were in touch after to make sure we were getting the support we needed. Their guidance in helping us navigate the process of getting all those papers in order was a stressless process. We knew we could ask for help and there would be a response. I have been witness to the sudden planning and the preplanning side. Both areas were covered with tact and care for our feelings and wishes.

The people of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home are the most compassionate , loving, kind and helpful folks to the family and friends at a time of life when a loved one has passed away . You are greeted by people with an empathetic heart. Margaret is my Angel in skin. You talk, start the planning process and they have a method of covering every aspect of your needs, and as important the things needed that a grieving family forgets. They serve you so well by kindly keeping you informed and the plan on time. You are not looking at a watch so there is a gentle reminder when it is time to sit down and the service to start . I could keep going , bottom line , everything will be taken care of and all you have to do is be in the moment and celebrate the home going of a loved one . This is our 3rd funeral in 9 years and each time Williams-Thomas has served us well !

From my first phone call and consultation with Margaret we knew we were in great hands with Williams Thomas. They truly handle every single thing. The compassion, kindness and love shown to my family truly made a huge impact on us during the hardest thing we have gone through. The video, brochure, guest book, flower handing and just absolutely everything was done to perfection and with such care. The day of the funeral we had Mr. Williams and his kindness and respect for the ceremony while also leading the individuals was so helpful. He was so kind. Then at the gravesite we had the opportunity to stay while my moms casket was lowered and it was very impactful on all of us. I can't say enough good things about them and every single person we encountered at Williams Thomas Funeral Home. They are wonderful and truly do shine the light of Christ.

My father succumbed to a long illness last week and our family was spread out over the East coast. Being originally from Gainesville we knew that we could call Williams Thomas. They went above and beyond for my family and probably took care of things that might not have been in the scope of services. Everyone of their employees that my family and I encountered had the utmost compassion for the situation we were going through and guided us in making a beautiful service for my father. I’m not telling you that you need to use them in your time of need, I’m just telling you that Williams Thomas brought all of us in and made us feel like family. Thank you very much for being there.

My dad chose Williams-Thomas Funeral Home for my mom’s Celebration of Life service because he had been to another service there and liked the facilities. My dad, sister, and I all had a wonderful experience using Williams-Thomas. Everyone we dealt with was so kind, so accommodating, and so easy to work with. They were patient with us and our changes. The facility is very nice. They are consummate professionals. I cannot say enough good things. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of their services.

They prepared and handled all the paperwork needed for a cremation and saved us countless hours. I can not say enough positive things about this funeral home. We used them for my dad, great-grandmother and my mom. They were very patient with us in making the right decisions and helping us when we didnt know what to do. Rick, Allen, & Anita, and the entire office, did an amazing job handling our mothers funeral! They are very passionate and compassionate and went above and beyond to help us with all our wants, needs, and wishes! We used them when our father passed away in 03, and just this last week! When professional and experienced assistance was needed at the time of my mother's death, Williams-Thomas delivered. Margaret Dickens was the W-T representative that helped us through the funeral preparations, the cremation, the funeral itself, the reception and the internment of the ashes. Throughout the experience, she was understanding of the family's desires and offered timely advice to ensure that all the details would be properly addressed. She lifted a large burden off my shoulders, so that I could properly grieve with my family as we put my mother to rest.

We recently lost my dad and he had stated to Mom that he wanted to be attended to by Williams-Thomas Funeral Home. I contacted them after his death and was introduced to Margaret. I can only say that Margaret was very attentive to Mom and my needs and to the details surrounding this event. She responded quickly to all calls and went above and beyond to take care of last minute changes from us. She had even followed up after all is said and done to check on us. Unfortunately, I will probably have to use them again but I know we will be in good hands. Thank you Margaret for easing us through this sad time!

Our 22-year old son was killed in a car accident recently. Alan from Williams Thomas allowed me to receive our son's body the way it was....without embalming, and for our family to spend as much private time alone with his body as we needed. Alan saw to it that our son's body was eventually dressed in a white gown we had had sewn for him, wrapped in a shroud, and transported to our "green" burial site nearby. Alan was so kind and professional. He listened very carefully to our desires, and honored our every wish. He's a wonderful man, and it meant everything to be able to proceed through these unnavigated waters in a way that felt instinctually right to us. I felt that their prices were reasonable as well, and their big historic building is also strangely comforting.

In a time of great sadness and stress, I turned to Williams-Thomas Funeral Homes to handle the funeral and burial of my mother (in 2016) and my father this January 2021. From my earlier experience, I knew I could trust them to handle every detail with compassion and care. My brother and I were able to organize my father’s funeral mass at St. Augustine and burial at Florida National Cemetery in just one meeting with funeral director Alan Dean. He took care of all the arrangements; all elements went smoothly from the arrival and presentation at the church to the poignant ceremony with military honors at Bushnell. During the week when my family and I had so much to deal with both emotionally and logistically, I was able to rely on Williams-Thomas for their expertise and organization. Costs are presented in a straightforward manner, which I appreciated. All details were explained respectfully and there was no upsell: on both occasions, my family selected exactly what we wanted with no pressure. I can sincerely and confidently recommend their services.

My husband passed Dec 15th. He was a retired Veteran as well. Alan in the Hawthorne location was so much help, I couldn’t even think straight. He handled the slide show and even came to the Florida National Cemetery to honor Peter. I couldn’t believe he had everything I needed from death certificates to cards and awards. I tell you William-Thomas gets 5 stars from me very compassionate folks!

Wlliams-Thomas was very caring and compassionate during our difficult time. We chose to have a military ceremony in Jacksonville (we live in Gainesville) and they drove us there, accompanied us during the ceremony, and on the way home stopped at a very nice restaurant of our choosing. I cannot thank them enough for being there for us every step of the way.

I had made multiple calls that morning finding no answers to our many questions. Margaret and Williams-Thomas Funeral Home was the first group to know exactly how to help us. It was such a relief. They were able to see us immediately, arrange the logistics of a military funeral, and quickly sort through all the unexpected paperwork. We couldn't have had a better experience. Williams-Thomas helped us with pre-funeral planning, the viewing, the service and even the graveside. During the viewing and service they projected PowerPoint slide shows that we had put together of my wife's mother and family. They assisted us in writing the obituary and in putting a trifold together with photos and the obituary. The staff is highly professional and compassionate. Special thanks to Vonda and Anita for their assistance and care before, during, and after the funeral.

We lost both of our parents within 4 days of each other in September. In the midst of a mountain of grief, William-Thomas Funeral Home (And in particular, Alan Dean) was there for us from the moment we contacted them, through the memorial service for our parents. I initially reached out to them when my parents were in the hospital and Alan's professionalism and compassion from our first phone conversation onward was incredibly appreciated by my entire family. It was also very important for me to have the cremations conducted directly at, and by, the funeral home we engaged. On a 1-10 scale, I would rate our overall experience with Williams-Thomas and their staff as a 10+ and I will always be comforted that we chose them to be part of that chapter of our lives.

My beloved husband, Bill, passed away unexpectedly in July. When everything became a blur from shock of such an unexpected loss, it was such a blessing when Margaret and the staff at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home lovingly and compassionately took my 25-year-old son and myself by the hand and walked us through the process of planning Bill’s Celebration of Life. No words are sufficient to convey the level of care & compassion that we felt. When all the planning was over, my son said, “Mom that was such a wonderful experience.” We are forever grateful for their assistance with making everything just the way we wanted it. One of our friends later said, “If you can have a favorite funeral, that was my all-time favorite.”

Unfortunately I had the need to use Williams Thomas Funeral Home. Margaret Dickens treated us with compassion and kindness during this very difficult time. All of the staff were wonderful. When the insurance company overpaid Williams Thomas, Margaret promptly returned the overpayment to me. I highly recommend Williams Thomas to anyone needing to make funeral arrangements. They will be there for you from beginning to end and even longer if needed.

I cannot say enough positive things about Williams-Thomas and the staff at the Main Street location. I lost my brother in Gainesville suddenly, and coming from Atlanta I had no idea who to turn to. I was so fortunate to have chosen this long-time, family run Gainesville provider. Vonda Williams was exceptional. She was extremely caring, addressed all my questions without pressure, and helped me make appropriate choices. Vonda was with us every step of the way, extremely prepared and organized, always communicating with me, and took care of all the details. It's hard to image a better experience under difficult circumstances. I highly recommend Vonda and Williams-Thomas!

Margaret and her team were exceptional at every step of the process. Margaret went above and beyond to ensure that all questions were answered timely, she provided text, phone call, email support in advance of the funeral date and in person support throughout. Her team was seamless in every step from showing photographs and playing music at the funeral, to posting the obituary online, recording and posting the ceremony, and answering any additional questions we had. We are so grateful to have chosen Williams Thomas Funeral Home and specifically Margaret and her team. They made the experience of losing a loved less stressful with the support and love they provided throughout.

I have never met a more professional, compassionate, warm, kind, and caring group of people than those individuals working at the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home. Margaret, the Funeral Director, was wonderful, and made sure that the entire process took place seamlessly behind the scenes and during the funeral. Jeffrey, the Preplanning Consultant, accepted my call to his personal cell phone on a Saturday and was very helpful and understanding. The two individuals who picked up my Mom from Hospice were both sensitive and solicitous. The entire staff answered my questions and emails immediately, no matter the time of day or evening. I highly recommend using their services!!!

When my father passed away, my mother and I felt a bit lost — but Alan Dean was very straightforward and made our options clear. After our first meeting, I was confident we’d made the right choice with Williams-Thomas. The entire process was smooth, W-T handled their end of things beautifully and I could not have asked for a better memorial service for Dad. More so than in most lines of work, funeral homes really need to treat their customers with compassion at all times and make sure all details are addressed properly. Mr. Dean came through for us and I would not hesitate to call upon Williams-Thomas again.
