Wayne Broward Faulkner's Obituary
Wayne Broward Faulkner, age 77 of Gainesville, FL passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1941 in Miami, FL to Broward and Mildred Parker Faulkner.
He was raised in Gainesville, FL and graduated from Gainesville High School. Wayne then began his service in the United States Air Force. He met and married Delane Fitts in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, they had two sons, Jeff and Jayson and a large extended family. After graduating from Samford University, he began working again for the USAF as a civil servant and earning two master’s degrees, an MS and Master of Management Science.
Wayne coached swimming in Montgomery, AL for many years and forged lifelong friendships with his students. He also taught college math and was a professor at several universities throughout his career. He was very involved and actively participated in the churches he attended and served as a Sunday school teacher.
Wayne was a dedicated family man and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a good friend, always kind and caring to others. He never met a stranger and treated people with great respect. He was very giving and generous in his support to others, especially Christian Missionaries.
He is survived by his sons, Jayson Faulkner (Ashley) of Estill Springs, TN, Jeff Faulkner (Jennifer) of Hardy, VA and; siblings, Joe Faulkner, Doris Hill and Renie Castleman; grandchildren, Lane, Davis, Emily, Morgan, Olivia, Emory and Zac.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delane Fitts Faulkner and sisters, Carol Lord and Laura Cook.
There will be a Memorial Service to honor his life at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park in In Tuscaloosa, AL at a later date.
