I met Virgil and Geri in 2004 when my husband and I moved to North Carolina and started attending the same church. A year or two later I started working in the church office and a couple years later a new church was being built with Virgil overseeing the construction. He came into the office nearly every day so I Iearned to know him better. He was always very polite and I was impressed with his work ethic and high standards not only as a supervisor but also as a Christian. After they moved back to Gainesville Virgil and I kept in touch by phone. A year ago Sherri drove her parents to Waynesville NC and Virgil and Geri stayed at my house the first week of January. It was a wonderful time of visiting and reminiscing. I will always treasure that time together.

Virgil and his family have been great friends of my family for many years. Virgil was so helpful to me as a pastor building a new church building and kept everything in line. He also helped finish my house for my family. His encouragement and knowledge was priceless. But most of all him and his family were great friends to my family and me. He will be missed. Praying for you all.

I recently lost a very dear and special friend. But he left me with so, many wonderful memories. I have only to close my eyes and there he is, all smiles and laughing, at something that just happened to him, or me. I don’t think that he ever met anyone, that didn’t like him. He didn’t care who you were, or how long he had known you, if you needed help or something else he was there. Whenever he would visit me and, when he walked through the door, I knew that it was going to be a great evening. Everyone loved him. He was the real deal, what you see, was what you got, I don’t think that he knew how to lie, or tell some juicy gossip about someone. His word was his bond. And now he’s gone from our lives, but never from our hearts. He will live forever in a special place just for loving memories.
