Thomas "Tommy" Wells Birt's Obituary
Thomas “Tommy" Wells Birt, age 52, tragically died on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 after an accident on N.W. 39th Avenue with an automobile. He was well known throughout northwest Gainesville, and best described as a ''famous pedestrian''.
Tommy rode his bicycle or walked everywhere he went, and many retailers and restaurants in the northwest Gainesville area knew him well. He always tried to help others with their work. You could find him in a restaurant helping with the trash, or see him helping someone in their retail store. Perhaps one of Tommy's greatest attributes was best described by a local business owner when he said this about Tommy in his Facebook post remembering him, ''..this lovely man was our daughters favorite customer'' and ''I would trust this man, before I trusted a guy in a suit.''
Tommy was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Birt, mother, Anne Birt and father, Bill Birt. He is survived by 2 sisters, Connie and Tammy and brother, Mike Birt. Graveside Services for Tommy will be held on Thursday, November 9th, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. in Evergreen Cemetery.
