Thomas Neil Boyd was the youngest of ten children born August 6, 1935, from a farming family in Micanopy. Thomas went to school here and graduated from PK Yonge and worked for Mr. Elbert Zetrouer for many years as his cow man. Mov Read Obituary
I just learn of Tommy's passing. It was an honor to know him and I am richer for having had him as a friend. He helped me so many times over the 20 years that he kept cattle on our property. He was always willing to help, no matter what it was I was asking. He came to my rescue countless times. Tommy's sense of humor and stories were without equal. As were his skills as a carpenter, mechanic and cattleman. The world has lost a rare treasure. Rest in Peace Tommy.
Mr. Thomas was the first cowboy I ever knew. He helped my Dad and Tuck Mack with their roundups and branding. He remained a friend through the years and will be missed. My prayers and condolences to Nioca and his children.
I am so saddened to hear about Mr Tommy. I had known him for almost 30 years. He was so kind and always willing to lend a helping hand. I will miss chatting and visiting with him. He was genuine and one of a kind and Micanopy will not be the same without him 💔
We certainly agree with the above memories of Tommy. As a child Margie met Tommy when Tommy worked with her grandfather, Remshart, and her uncle, Elbert and has remained friends with Tommy since then. Always taking time for a friendly chat, he was an encyclopedia of local residents interesting stories and history. Tommy’s wise and vast knowledge of the cattle business from mending a fence to managing a herd was surpassed by none. There are no peers to Tommy; we will miss him greatly!!
Mr. Tommy was a family friend of ours and I met him as a young kid. He truly left an impression on our family showing how giving he was of his time, energy, and effort. He was a great man who was willing to do whatever he could to help others. He will be greatly missed!
My fondest memory is seeing Mr. Boyd caring for his cows. He had the most incredible way with animals. He spent many hours with his bulls curry combing them and they were so well trained. He was always ready to help his neighbors and I was one of them. I learned so much from him and he cared so deeply and was always so kind. My sincere condolences to his family he was an inspiration to all of us. May he live on in you memories.
Tommy was truly old school in the best meaning of the word. Quite and unassuming but always quick with a smile. When he told you something you didn’t have to question wether he meant it our not, you could take it to the bank. This community just lost one of it’s best, my condolences to his family and close friends.One of the most over used sayings is “they don’t make them like that anymore “ , in Tommy’s case that’s a fact.
