We were blessed to have Shirley as our neighbor for nearly 25 years. What a beautiful lady inside and out. Shirley loved the Lord, her family, and her pets. You could tell by just talking with her how thankful and blessed she felt about her girls (Ginny, Debbie, and Vivian) and granddaughter (Kelley). Shirley became not only a neighbor but a special friend who remained even after we left Gainesville. She took care of our cats when we travelled (as we did with her’s) and we know they probably received more attention from “Aunt Shirley” than from us. While we will miss our conversations and her wonderful laughter, we know she is with the Lord. It hurts us that we cannot be at the Memorial Service today to honor the wonderful life of our friend. But please be aware that the entire family will be in our prayers today and in the coming weeks.

It was a big joke in my family because they knew if I was on the phone with Shirl they wouldn't see me for 2 to 3 hours. During that time at lest there would be 3 times we would say "well we need to go" then talk another 30 to 45 minutes. When we finally did say good bye we would just laugh at how long we had been talking. She was my sister and my best friend. I will miss her, the laughs and tears we shared, but Shirl now I can talk to you when ever I want to not just when I have time.
