Sarah Green Poss' Obituary
Sarah Green Poss, 87, died Thursday, April 12, 2018 in the Shands Hospital, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mrs. Poss was born on June 10, 1930 in Turbeville, South Carolina to the late Glayton and Sally Green. Mrs. Poss was an Army wife, married to the late Carey Poss, and on deployments she lived in Germany and in Georgia, before settling in Gainesville in 1964. She had a long career with the University Athletic Association, retiring after many years the manager of the student ticket office. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Gainesville Rose Society. Mrs. Poss was a member of Northwest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three children, Carey Jr., Michael and Sarah.
Survivors include; a daughter, Brenda P. (Michael) Bryson, of Atlanta; a son, James Poss, of Zephyrhills; one sister, Shirley Knight, of Lake City, SC; three grandchildren, Christina (Chris) Pagliuca, Carey Poss and Megan Bryson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 1:30 P. M., in the Northwest Baptist Church, 5514 NW 23rd Avenue, with Rev. Craig Canton, officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park West. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 P. M., at the church. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
