Russell W. "Russ" Trippensee's Obituary
Russell W. “Russ” Trippensee, age 84 of Gainesville, FL passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026. He was born May 31, 1942, in Niagara Falls, New York to Frederick W. II and Florence I. Volk Trippensee.
He moved to Gainesville, FL in 1968, where he owned Trippensee Opticians since 1974. He was a member of Florida State Board of Opticians, American Board of Opticianry Advanced Certified, Master of Ophthalmic Optics, certified by (NCLE), National Contact Lens Examiner, Member of Florida Association of Dispensing Opticians, Fellow of National Academy of Opticinary.
Russ was a very loving and caring person to his family, friends and customers and to everyone he met. He was involved in eyeglass missions at First Lutheran Church and a lifelong Gator fan.
He is survived by the love of his life, Laura Baum Trippensee, daughters, Paige and Gay and their spouses; brother, Fred and his wife Barbara, grandchildren and their spouses and numerous family members.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Ruby and his sister, Norma and brother, Don.
