Ronald E. Brown's Obituary
BROWN, RONALD E., 63, Bronson — Ron Brown, known affectionately as "Big Ron" passed away January 10, 2015 at the E.T. York Haven Hospice Care Center, following a long illness. Ron was born April 7, 1951, in Opa-Locka, Florida, to the late Lewis and Mildred Brown.
Ron graduated from Hialeah High School in Miami in 1969 and married Suzanne Lynn Brown in 1978. After moving to Gainesville in 1981, Ron was employed by the University of Florida in the Aerospace and Engineering Department. He retired in 2010 with over 29 years of service. Ron loved to read about history, loved the Florida Gators and the Miami Dolphins and had a passion for music, especially rock and roll.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister, Janet Wyatt (Shafter). Big Ron is survived by his wife, Suzanne, his son, Ron; his granddaughters, Evelynn June and Fantasia; and sister Geri Mirabella (Denny). Others that will miss Ron include mother and father-In-law Dick and Evelyn Brown; sisters-in-law Linda Califf (Hollis); Rose Powell (Jeff); Annie Hicks (Troy); Colleen Maresca (Mike); nephews Michael Mirabella, Jericho Hicks (Julie); Jonathan Hicks; Stephen Powell (Megan); Scott Powell (Ciera) and Michael Maresca; nieces Jennifer Maresca and Laura Brothers (Anthony); great-nephews Jude Powell and Jackson Hicks; and longtime family friend, Jeremy Steen.
A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with Pastor Derek Lambert, officiating. A graveside service will follow in Countryside Cemetery, 10926 NW 39th Avenue. Casual attire is requested.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home
