Richard Arlen Lacy's Obituary
Richard Arlen Lacy (88) of Gainesville, Florida passed away peacefully on June 27, 2022.
Richard is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Doris, and brother, Henry Bell. He is survived by his only daughter, Karen Murphree (Walt); grandson, Matthew Murphree (Laurie); granddaughter, Katelyn Mullins (Jeremy); his beloved great grandchildren, Brady, Brielle, Liam, Wyatt and Bridget; sister, Doris Glazer (Roger); niece, Carol Foley (Don); nephews, Phillip (Margie), David (Marta) and Danny (Pam).
Richard was born in Miami, Florida. At a young age, he decided to join the marines. After serving his country for four years , he was Honorably Discharged. He decided to go to work for a local loan company after leaving the military, and that is where he met the love of his life. After gaining experience in the financial field, he gained employment as a Financial Manager at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Dade County Florida where he remained until his retirement
Richard and Doris then moved from Miami in 1996 to follow their daughter’s family to Gainesville where they made a wonderful life for themselves.
Richard was a “jack of all trades” If he didn’t know how to fix something, he would research it and learn how to do it himself. He was very handy.
To describe Richard in one word would be “Caregiver”. He cared for his “Huggie” (as he used to call his wife) in her declining years. He was selfless and loved her with all his heart.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea with Dr Don McGarity officiating. Interment will take place in Miami next to his beloved wife.
