Richard Davis, Jr.'s Obituary
Richard Davis, Jr, affectionately known as “Grandpa” and “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren, died peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2017, at the age of 69 surrounded by his family.
Richard is survived by, his wife and best friend of 47 years, Maureen. He was extremely loving and proud of his three daughters, Tara Fisher & her husband Joe, Karen Scott & her fiancé Ray Alvarez and Lisa O’Connor & her husband Patrick. He was the loving grandfather of 9 grandchildren: Mark, Anthony, Amaya, Jake, Patrick, Madison, Ryan, Ashley and Thomas; and his two sisters Lynn Davis and Shelley Myles. He is preceded in death by his parents; Richard Sr. and Irene Davis, his sister Darlene Burke and godson Brian Hirtzel.
Friends and family remember Rich as a fun-loving individual, with an addictive smile and personality to match. He cherished time with his family and always loved to laugh.
He was a diehard Gator fan. He enjoyed his weekends spending time with his wife, watching golf and Gator football. Go Gators!
In his younger years Rich was an avid golfer, bowler, and softball player who spent many years sharing his talents with his daughters both as a coach and a mentor.
Richard is a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam war where he received several commendations for his dedication and bravery, including the Bronze Star.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with visitation two hours prior beginning at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
