Ralph L. Brick's Obituary
Ralph L. Brick, age 88 of Gainesville, Florida passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021. He was born July 8, 1932 in Newtonburg Township, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin to Norbert and Erna Schrank Brick.
He graduated from Valders High School in 1950. He served in the US Airforce for four years (1952-1956), as a Cryptographic Operator. He served in the Alaskan Air Command, 3rd Radio Squadron, Adak, Aleutian Islands, and at the USAF Security Service Headquarters, Kelley Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX.
Ralph had a thirty-seven-year career with United Airlines with assignments in Milwaukee, WI, Youngstown/Warren, OH, Tampa, FL and at the Executive Offices, Chicago, IL as a Manager of System Operations Control until his retirement in 1993.
He attained an Associate Degree in Business and Marketing from McHenry County College, Crystal Lake, IL in 1974.
Ralph enjoyed golfing, walking aerobics, travel, personal computer, and the collecting of Jazz/Swing music. He loved being at the beach with family. He sang in the choir and assisted with the Hymnsoft Computer Program for Church Organs at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Jo of Gainesville, FL; five children between them, three sons and two daughters, David Brick of Spokane, WA, Barbara Brick of Crystal Lake, IL, Jeffrey Brick of Phoenix, AZ, Candace E. Jamarik, Marshall, TX and J.B. Edwards of Palm Beach, FL; eight grandchildren, Larry Brick and Janel Brick of Seattle, WA, Matthew Brick of Crystal Lake, IL, Johanna, Chase and Anne Jamarik of Marshall, TX, and Ben and Dan Roberts of Roscoe, IL. Ralph was recently blessed with a Great grandson, Carter Brick. He is also survived by sisters, Annabelle Kolstad of Maribel, WI and Audrey Harpt of Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice Schley Brick and brother, Ron Brick.
Ralph was very thankful for a life Blessed by God, to have been American born, Wisconsin raised, and wanted to thank his family and friends who surrounded and supported him throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. 1700 NW 34th St, Gainesville with Pastor Brian Wrobel officiating. Interment will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund at either Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gainesville, FL or Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2017 Victory Blvd. Yorktown, VA 23693-2625.
