Rachel Cecile Meldrem's Obituary
Rachel Cecile Meldrem, age 88 of Gainesville, Florida passed peacefully in her sleep on May 8, 2026.
Rachel, affectionately called Grandma Rae Rae or Gram, or GG was born June 7, 1937, to Fernando T. Landry and wife, Cecile Pellitier Landry in Nashua, NH. She brought a bright colorful personality to this world from the beginning, lighting up every room with her spirit.
She loved music and enjoyed singing, especially in the church choir over the years. Faith and family were the most important things for her however and always took priority. Grandma Rae Rae adored bright colors and laughter.
Her legacy and memories will be carried on by her five children Debora L. Polkey, William A. Meldrem, and wife Sue Ann, Joann R. Newell, and husband Keith, Nancy R. Abbott, and Richard P. Meldrem, also left to cherish her are her five grandchildren Jeremy, Sarah, Mindy, Bekah, Samantha and her 10 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Paul Landry, sister Jackie Rowe, nephew Brian, and her grandson Jonathan.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Williams-Thomas Westarea, 832 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, Florida 32669.
At the request of Grandma Rae Rae please wear bright colors as they were her favorite.
