We knew Monteen while their family was living in NC......we spent lots of time with her and lots of the Watkings family......she was a great friend.......
Monteen & Michelle were my first friends when I arrived at BHS in 1980. They were 5 years older and I looked up to them. Monteen had this magnetic personality so vibrant and full of life. I was so happy to reconnecting with her a few years ago and telling her how she changed my life back then with her kindness.
I'm so sorry she was taken so soon. She was loved by everyone.

My wife Karen and I met Monteen at Florida Gator gatherings in North Carolina. We saw her gentle sweet calming spirit on full display as the rest of us lost our minds on some meaningless bad play or call that did not go well for the Gators. She always reflected Gods love and grace which we loved and appreciated. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Lerew family and circle of friends during this very difficult time. I never knew Monteen but faithfully I received a Christmas card from the Lerew’s every year. I got to know Monica through my husband, John, who took care of her at UNC. My heart warms me I was able to get to know her family through Monica. She is in the hands of the Lord and she’s looking down and blessing the whole family. Hugs and prayers to the whole family. ❤️
I know for certain that we never lose people we love, even in death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make as long as you live. Monteen will live on through you. Our condolences as you grieve.

Grow up with Monteen and her family in Aiken. We were neighbors and so many memories. She very kind hearted, sweet and always had a smile on face. She will be missed. Prayers to her family during this difficult time.
