Dr. Moira Russell Jackson's Obituary
Dr. Moira Russell Jackson, 58, of Gainesville, Florida, died Saturday, February 27, 2021, at her home following a long illness.
Dr. Jackson was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on May 9, 1962, to the late William Wallace and Joy Jackson. She was educated at the University of Aberdeen and later Oxford University. In Gainesville, she served as an associate professor of the anatomy department and longtime director of the Anatomical Board of the State of Florida at the University of Florida, before her health caused her to retire.
Dr. Jackson was very active in the Ronald McDonald House as well as Boy Scouts, helping her son Alexander reach Eagle Scout.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Rusu; and her son, Alexander Daniel Rusu; both of Gainesville.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at 3:00 P. M., in Memorial Park West, 700 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, with Pastor Daniel Kendall, officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. in the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry.
