Michael Stephen Slade's Obituary
Michael Stephen Slade, age 63 of Gainesville, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. Michael was born August 18, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida to Avory C. Slade Sr. and Mary E. Green Slade.
Mike worked as a carpenter foreman and retired from Shands after 32 years of employment. In his free time, he loved to hunt and fish and ride tractors. Mike loved animals.
He was preceded in death by his father, Avory C. Slade Sr. and sister, Mary C. Slade.
Michael is survived by his mother, Mary E. Slade of Gainesville, FL; son, Cody Slade of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Gabriella Slade of Hillsdale, New Jersey; sister, Nancy Barrington of Waycross, Georgia; brother, Avory C. “Cliff” Slade Jr. and granddaughter, Malaya Slade.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital and mail to UF Health Office of Development, P.O. Box 100386, Gainesville, FL 32610. Please indicate that it is made in Michael Slade’s memory.
