Michael K Jansen's Obituary
On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Michael K. Jansen, 68, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with congestive heart failure. He was outside and surrounded by his orchids and birdhouses. He was the beloved husband for 47 years to his childhood sweetheart, Jackie (Seifert). He was a proud and devoted father to Jaime Jansen, Michael (Megan) Jansen and Nicholas (Katie) Jansen. He was Pop Pop to 7 grandchildren Isabella and Emma Irrizarry, Sloane, Brynn and Molly Jansen and Declan and Corinne Jansen. He was a dear brother-in-law, cousin and friend.
Michael was born in St. Louis, MO to the late Richard and Miriam (Seerge) Jansen. He married Jackie in St. Louis but moved several times due to his job in retail management. Once he settled in FL, he never wanted to leave. He really disliked the cold!
Michael loved to paint, read and do puzzles. His favorite past time was to have his grandchildren over for Camp Pop Pop. He loved special time with them and had the patience of a saint teaching them how to paint.
Funeral services will be private to honor his wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Michael was an inspiration to many. The way he handled his heart condition and sharing his story with many patients was unbelievable. He was considered to be the LVAD ambassador at Shands. He would always visit patients and call them on the phone to answer any questions. We would like to thank the LVAD team at Shands for their care and support and giving us the past 5 years of his life. The doctors and nurses became like family to us.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Canine Companions, www.canine.org. We were blessed to have a release dog added to our family from this amazing organization. I am sure when Michael passed, he was greeted by his beloved dogs, Tilla and Lily!
