I extend my sincere condolences on the loss of Mike’s earthly presence to Dolores and all of Mike’s family. I just learned of his passing this day and was so sorry I didn’t write earlier; I just didn’t know. Our paths crossed way back in 1968 when I met Dolores at my first job out of high school and from there I met Janice then grew to love the entire Hawley clan. My memories are sweet of times spent together. Dolores opened my mind and heart by the memory of a remark she made when Mike and Phil left for military duty together so many years ago. Janice shared that remark and I was very blessed to know it at the time but that simple remark remained in my heart and mind all these years. She said “Dell would know what to say...” It was a very simple remark but because of that remark, I was able to late in my life document and publish stories of my own family. Literally, my mouth opened and my words fell from my lips; I just had to get them down in black and white for eternity. A cousin who is an author in his own right persuaded me to try my hand at publishing but those simple words from Dolores stayed with me all these years until I could finally garner enough courage to write. They were the catalyst I needed. I have always appreciated the willingness of the Hawley clan to bring a stranger into the fold and appreciate the fellowship of all, even the lively teasing at the hands of Calvin and the Hawley boys. I mourn the loss of Mike’s presence but know there is presently a great reunion...
God bless each of you in your time of sorrow. The dark clouds will part once again and I hope you will consider those times as Mike’s bright and shining smile sending his love...
I am so very sorry our lives separated all of us over the years but I never stopped thinking of all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Dolores; for everything...
