I have known Melonie most of her life as well as her brothers. When my maternal grandmother spent 3 months in Miami with one of her daughters, as an answer to a newspaper ad my mother sent Melonie from Morehead on a Greyhound bus to Miami to help care for her, for which we shall be forever grateful. Upon Mamaw's return home, Melonie continued living with my aunt until she met who was to become her husband. She must have also fallen in love with Florida. It was a shock for us to read in the Morgan Co. paper about her passing. We loved her as did many others. May God bless and comfort Melonie's family. Love to each of you.

I remember when I first met Mrs. Mel. At the time I didn't know she was Joyce's mother and I thought she was hilarious and a joy to see and talk to. Then becoming close friends with Joyce I got to see a lot more of her. I always thought she was such a strong woman, and just so nice to everyone whether she knew you or not. My heart is broken for this beautiful family. My prayers will be with your whole family. I pray that God called this angel home and she is no longer suffering in this world. God bless Mrs Heckerman, watch over us and guide Joyce and John through this time without. Til we meet again one sweet day.
