Melody Ann Hall Gallagher's Obituary
Melody Ann Hall Gallagher, 70, of Keystone Heights, Florida, passed away on November 21, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida, after a courageous six-week battle with cancer. Born on September 5, 1955, in Island Grove, Florida, Melody was the youngest of ten children born to Charles “Fred” and Dorothy Hall. She grew up in Hawthorne, where her vibrant spirit and kindhearted nature were evident from an early age.
Melody lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family and community. She devoted 16 years of her professional life as a Critical Care Technician at UF Health Shands Hospital. Her work in emergency rooms and intensive care units placed her at the center of medical crises, where she supported physicians and nursing staff with skill, steadiness, and grace. She was committed to providing a safe and calm environment for patients in critical condition, and her steady presence and attentive care often made all the difference in their most vulnerable moments.
Beyond her career, Melody’s life was deeply rooted in faith. A devout Christian, she felt a strong calling to missionary service and served both with Dove Outreach Ministries and independently in Honduras. In Honduras, Melody helped plan, fundraise for, and build medical clinics. Working alongside Dr. Jorge, she gathered medical supplies and provided care through numerous free clinics. Her compassion knew no borders, and her service left a lasting impact on countless lives. Her faith also sustained and comforted her in her final weeks as her health declined.
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” — James 1:12 (NIV)
Melody’s joyful spirit shone brightest when she was surrounded by those she loved. She married Michael Gallagher on November 1, 2008, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She cherished time spent with her family—whether shopping together, sharing stories, selecting the perfect outfit and accessories, or capturing memories through photography and special albums. Melody loved the water, especially the ocean. Some of her happiest memories were made during her family’s annual river week vacations and the many cruises she enjoyed with her beloved Mike, her sister Helen, and her brother-in-law Ronnie. Known for her infectious smile and laugh, Melody had a gift for spreading joy to both children and adults alike.
Melody is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Gallagher; son Derek Bracewell (Teri) of Ellijay, GA; daughter Brandy Crumpton Smith of Gainesville, FL; son Thomas Crumpton (Elyse) of Keystone Heights; daughters, Jennifer Gallagher, Kristine Gallagher, Stephanie Gallagher; sisters Marilyn Womble of Atlantic, Iowa, Janice Hutchins of Hawthorne, Freddie Goad (Harold) of Hawthorne, and Helen Hobbs (Ronald) of Lake City, FL; brother Tommie Hall (Julee) of Earleton, FL; and brother-in-law Ike Stephenson of Keystone Heights, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tucker Bracewell (Elizabeth), Morgan Heim (Carson), Baylee Bracewell, Aubrey Woodley, Isabel Crumpton, Hunter Crumpton, and Natalie Crumpton; and great-grandchildren Isadora Bracewell, Isla Bracewell, and Eliott Heim.
