Dear Gloria, I was sorry to learn through Miami High's news network, "Stingtrain", that you had lost your husband. You probably remember those three little kids that lived down on the corner, Julie, Jeanne, and Georgie Milam. Your wedding was the first one I'd ever been to! Before that was another fantastic day, when you all moved to our neighborhood on 23rd Street. Barbara wasn't allowed to cross the street that day and neither was I. We had to get acquainted by yelling across the street to each other! Another wonderful time was the Saturday afternoon that my mother let me go with you and the kids to the Parkway Theater for the first time! The movie was "Mister Bug Goes to Town". Do you remember that?
I've always loved Barbara as a great friend! She has always had such a great sense of humor, even as a kid. I was always so impressed that you were the Valedictorian of your class. My aunt, Addie Kate (Martin) Owens, was the Valedictorian in 1928, the first class to graduate from the new building. Mother graduated in 1926 from the old school that became the Dade County School Board building. Several years ago I was lucky enough to be in Texas and have a chance to visit Barbara! She's still the cutest person I know. Tell her I'll call her soon.
