Debbie Holway
Here are a few memories i shared at the service not on the recording. My Mom collected green stamps from the grocery store and one time she looked at me and said Debbie you can get any thing you want, it wasnt my birthday,( of course i got a doll). She made me feel so special.
Years later when i gave birth to the twins 1st born baby A we named Ben. 2nd born baby B we named Chad. Mom came in later that day and said thats stupid baby B should be Ben. Im to tired to debate this, fine switch names. She was right!!
She had a way of convincing you her way was the right way. Every time.
After my Dad passed she enjoyed "Mothering" Scott But in 2016 her dementia set in and Scott began caring for her. She made many trips to Gainesville and I to Orlando. One of her trips to Gainesville she walked in my house and said "this place looks very familiar to me.I think i had a lot of fun here". And when she spent the night she would tell me she felt safe here. I loved her being with me.
The last year of her life was here in Gainesville at The Windsor. I dont know how but we were cleared for visits in February Shelli and i loved our weekly visits. Our favorite place was on the porch in the garden. It was like she didnt have Alzheimers. When our visits were inside we cut her hair did her nails Just made her feel special as she always made us feel growing up. We played old Maid, put the same puzzle together over and over.Talked about the Family and shared lots of pictures.
She had a fun life. Many trips to the Beach with her girls, Aunt Carol and cousin Lou Ann. We laughed till it hurt. Many family beach trips with my Dad. Holidays were always special, Large groups of family enjoying my Dads cooking sometimes moms.
She loved my Dad and her family and a very special couple Loraine and Wayne Smith. Together they all had fun and i loved being with the 4 of them.
Mom I Love you and you will live in my heart.
