Mary Ruth Bielmann Hogan's Obituary
Mary Ruth Bielmann Hogan passed away on
August 8, 2022, with her daughters by her side. She was 89. The second of 4 girls, Ruth was born to Lena Pearl Elixson Bielmann and Camille ‘Emil’ Bielmann on December 6,1932 and was a lifelong resident of Alachua County. After attending Gainesville High School, she began her successful and fulfilling 37 year career with Southern Bell (AT&T) as a switch board operator and was promoted to Manager of Operator Services by the time she retired in 1989. It was at work she met the love of her life, Harold Zane Hogan, and they married on August 7th, 1962. They would remain enamored with each other for the next 59 years.
Ruth took great joy in being with her family and was a loving wife, sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother. Known as Grammie to her grandchildren, she delighted in their visits and accomplishments. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed cooking and shopping for bargains.
Although she encountered many physical challenges during her life, Ruth faced all difficulties with quiet resolve and determination that reflected her faith.
An inspiration to all who knew her, Ruth was quite simply grace personified.
In addition to her daughters Karen Stack Van Lare and April Marie Hogan, Ruth leaves behind to celebrate her life sisters Martha Hastings (Carroll d.), Birmingham, AL and Emily Smith (Wayne d.), Jacksonville, FL. Grandchildren: Andrew W. Giles (Carey Robinson); Lacey Roddick Taplin (Kevin); Jonathan Van Lare (Michelle De Voogt); Allison Van Lare (Eric Yocam). Great Grandchildren: Aiden & Aubrey Giles; Malcolm Taplin; Julia, Jay, Julian & Owen Van Lare and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Zane, sister Dorothy Markham, and parents.
Services for Ruth will be held, Saturday, August 20, 2022, 10:00 am at Williams -Thomas Funeral Home, 404 N Main Street, Gainesville, FL 3601. Burial following the ceremony will be private.
