Marilyn Lanell Sumner's Obituary
Marilyn Lanell Sumner, age 52 passed away in Gainesville, FL at Haven Hospice on Saturday, September 9, 2017.
Marilyn was born in Quincy, FL on October 25, 1964. Her family lived in Bristol, FL until 1976 when the family moved to Newberry, FL. She was a 1982 graduate of Newberry High School. She moved to Gainesville in 1985, where she resided the remaining years of her life.
She was a Records Coordinator for Kindred Health Care for 26 years. She was a long-time member of Westside Baptist Church, where she enjoyed worshipping the Lord, singing in the choir, and assisting with the children’s choir. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as being an avid Gator fan, and she also loved to shop.
She is survived by her parents, Tommy and Louise Sumner of Bristol, FL; brothers, Wayne (Ebby) Sumner of Bristol, FL, Roger (Jessie) Sumner of Lake City, FL; twin sister, Carolyn (Curtis) Wright of Gainesville, FL; nephews, William Sumner of Campbellton, FL, Jonathan Sumner (Tiffany) of Dade City, FL; nieces, Kaitlin Sumner of Lake City, FL, Amanda (Andrew) Canterberry of Citra, FL, Ivey Correa (Jeffery) of Ocala, FL; great nephews, Reece Jackson, Luke Sumner, Nathan and Cody Canterberry, and Aiden Thursby.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry FL, 32669, with Dr. David Chauncey officiating. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Mystic Baptist Church, 15292 NW County Road 12, Bristol, FL with the Rev. Jerry Chumley officiating. Family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to service.
