Marilyn Hahn Mengerink's Obituary
Marilyn Hahn Mengerink, 85, passed away at her daughter Shelly's home on July 10, 2015. She was born on November 17, 1929 to Ernest Hahn and Helen Gerken Hahn in Pleasant Bend, Ohio, where her father managed the grain elevator. She attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio. In 1948 she married Edward Mengerink in Napoleon, Ohio, and they were married for 60 years until his death in 2008. They moved to Tecumseh, Michigan after Ed's graduation from Ohio State in 1957, and moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1972. Besides raising a family, she worked as a secretary and administrative manager, and assisted Ed at his dental lab.
She is survived by her two daughters, Tracy (Robert) Mims and Shelly (Dale) Thompson, a grandson Scotty (Angela) Thompson, two great granddaughters Laila and Aria Marilyn, a sister Phyllis Postle, a brother E. Richard Hahn, and many nieces and nephews.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, and was famous for her cookies and handmade Christmas cards. She and Ed loved golf and traveling and had many good years together after retirement. She loved her flowers and the library, but most of all her family.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 9700 West Newberry Road. Interment will be next to Ed at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
