Maria Antoinette Szady's Obituary
Maria Antoinette Szady, age 75, of Oak Ridge, TN passed away on December 4th 2013 after a lengthy illness in Gainesville, Florida.
Maria was born on November 29, 1938 in Cetraro, Italy. At the age of 21, after receiving her degree in romance languages in Naples Italy, Maria immigrated to the United States. She met her husband of 51 years, Andrew J. Szady,in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Oak Ridge in 1968 where they lived for 43 years. Recently they have resided in Ocala Florida.
Maria enjoyed cooking, various crafts, gardening, and spending time with her friends and family. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Maria is survived by her husband Andrew J. Szady, son Steven Szady of Erie, Colorado, daughter Dr. Anita D. Szady of Gainesville, Florida, brother Dominic Muglia and his wife Margaret of Chesapeake, Virginia and their children.
The family will receive friends and a rosary will be recited on Friday December 13, 2013 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the chapel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oak Ridge, TN. Fr. Michael Woods will officiate a funeral mass at 12:30pm on Saturday December 14th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the St. Joseph’s food pantry at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 327 Vermont Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
