Linda Sue Hodge Woodcock's Obituary
Linda Sue Hodge Woodcock, age 80, passed away on September 30, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 26, 1942, in Gainesville, FL. to Woodford and Florence Lee Hobbs Hodge. Linda was born a farmer’s daughter, she lived in Newberry /Gainesville area all her life.
She graduated from the University of Florida.
Linda worked in labor and delivery at Alachua General Hospital in her early years as a registered nurse, But she was most proud of being a teacher, where she taught at Glen Springs and Archer Elementary schools, retiring after 35 years.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Newberry. She loved history and science. Linda also enjoyed traveling all over. She would plan trips, taking her grandchildren to learn about history. She also enjoyed gardening and the beach.
Her children and grandchildren were her life and world. She will be deeply missed, and forever loved.
She was preceded by her husband, Alvin Dale Woodcock, parents, Woodford and Florence Hodge, sister, Martha Sylvia Hodge, and grandson, Garrett Crosswhite.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Lee Thomas, and Julia Dean; 5 grandchildren, Tia, Sierra, Lilli, Katie Florence, and Liam. Great granddaughter, Lexi Lee.
A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Newberry 25520 W. Newberry Road Newberry, FL. with Pastor Andy Cook. For those who wish donations may be made in Linda’s memory to NHS in care of the science Keys education trip
