Leila Jean Wojcicki's Obituary
Leila Jean Wojcicki, 96, of Newberry, Florida passed away July 3, 2026.
Jean was born to Cecil and Cecelia Grossman on February 17, 1930, in Tarentum, Pennsylvania.
In 1972 she met John in Miami Beach, and they were married in July of 74’ after a two-year engagement. She loved to sing and was a member of Sweet Adelines, a singing group in Hialeah, Florida, where they lived until 2002. Jean was also a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gainesville, Florida.
She was a faithful Coast Guard wife, a dedicated mother, and a loyal friend. Jean left a lasting mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Friends and family will never forget her homemade candy, her laughter and her faith.
Jean is preceded in death by sons Frank T. Stefanik, Brian J. Wojcicki, and sisters Virginia Wygonik, and Marion Greenwell, and brother Thomas Grossman
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, John Wojcicki, her children Jean Romanik of Newberry, Fl., Elizabeth A. Rogers (Stephen), of Plantation, Fl., Mary E. Marcotte (Mark) of Newberry, Fl., Evelyn D. Addison (David) of Newberry, FL., Charles R. Wojcicki (Kathy) of Bradner, OH, Roxanne Roman (Marco) of Greencastle, PA., Mary Furr of Novi, MI., and Maxine S. McChesney of St. Augustine, FL., daughter- in- law Cindy Stefanik, brother Cecil Grossman, sixteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Williams-Thomas Westarea 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, Florida 32669. The family will receive friends at a viewing, one hour prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
