Kenneth Wayne Vest's Obituary
Kenneth Wayne Vest, age 67, passed away at his home in Lake City, Fla., on Nov. 25, 2022, after an extended illness.
He is survived in his immediate family by his loving wife, Pam Vest, of Lake City; his mother-in-law Chris Dennis; and his brothers Marlin Vest of Highland Lake, Ala., and David Vest of Parker, Fla.; stepdaughter, Pamela (Travis) Taylor; grandchildren, Tiffany, Troy, and Tommy Taylor. Kenneth also is mourned and fondly remembered in his large extended family by brothers- and sisters-in-law and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Preceding him in death were his wife Roxie Vest; his parents, Charlie and Earline Vest; his sisters Linda Cardwell and Sara Little; and his brother Charles Vest.
Kenneth was born on Sept. 25, 1955, in Birmingham, Ala., and was a graduate of Pinson Valley High School and the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communication. His 35 years of service to the State of Florida included work with WUFT TV and Northeast Florida State Hospital. In 2021, he retired as a senior clerk in the psychology department at the hospital, where he had worked for 21 years. He had since enjoyed home and family time with his particular interests in music, sci-fi movies and television, and in politics and government. He also bestowed his lifelong love of animals on his dachshund fur babies Fraulein, Cinder, Augie, Tristan and Oliver. The family wishes especially to thank Kenneth’s caregiver Judith Lehman and sister-in-law Paula Dennis for their gracious help and support, and also to thank Haven Hospice Care Center for its services.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Westarea 823 N.W. 143rd Street Newberry, FL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Forest Meadows Central Cemetery 4100 N.W. 39th Ave. Gainesville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Kenneth be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate3.cancer.org
