My sincere condolences on the passing of Joy. I'm not positive, but I think she is the same Joyce Bender that was my classmate at Staten Island Community College (SICC) way back in 1971 and 1972. If so, we often car pooled to and from SICC from Brooklyn via the Verrazano Bridge in either her navy blue VW hatchback or my green and white VW bus. (Perhaps a family member can confirm that the Joyce Bender in the attached photo is one and the same). Our friendship was brief, largely because I moved to California in late December of 1972. However, over the years I have occasionally googled friends from the distant past, like Joyce, wondering about their journeys through life. After reading a little about Joy's life here, it is clear that she had a wonderful life. It is very sad, though, that she passed at a relatively young age. May she rest in peace.
