Dean, Joyce A. Passed away September 6, 2021. At home surrounded by her family in Gainesville, FL.
Joyce was born in Princeton, Illinois on August 15, 1939, to Charles David Brown and Margaret Mae Sommers Brown. When Joyce was 5, they moved to Sanford, Florida
She trained as an Xray Technician in Jacksonville. She was working in Biloxi when she met the love of her life Lowell T. Dean. They were married on December 2, 1960. They traveled extensively in the military while raising their two children Charles David, and Linda Lee.
Joyce had many different careers throughout her life. She started as an Xray Technician, comptroller, and computer programmer for the US Air Force. Later she would work for private practice as an Xray Tech in Daytona Beach. Lowell and Joyce moved to Gainesville, FL. in 2016 to finally retire. Joyce learned to sew from her mother at a young age. Sewing her daughters’ wedding dress and the whole bridal party outfits. Over the years Joyce enjoyed quilting, smocking, French hand sewing, cooking, and baking. Her passion was cooking, she was a self-taught baker, turned cake decorator.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Lee Moss, and son-in-law John of Archer, FL. brother; William Brown of Hahira, GA., daughter-in-law Susan Dean, four grandchildren; Ian and Sydney Dean, and Kyle and Ryan Moss.
Joyce was preceded by her husband Lowell T. Dean, and son Charles David Dean, and brother, Charles Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the University of Florida Cardiology.
