John Jerome Schroepfer Jr.'s Obituary
John Jerome Schroepfer Jr., age 76 of Gainesville, passed away in Shands UF Hospital Saturday, November 21, 2015. John was born July 16, 1939 in New York, New York to John Jerome Schroepfer Sr. and Rosalie McGraham Schroepfer. He worked as a former Financial Advisor for Stifel, Deputy County Clerk of the Court and was also a former FBI Agent. He was on the Board of Trustees for Bethune-Cookman University, Past President of the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce, former Alachua County Commissioner, long time member of Rotary, worked with the Education Foundation of Alachua County and several charitable organizations. John was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In his free time John loved being on his boat and around the water. He also enjoyed being with his family and watching the Gator games.
John is survived by his children, Donna Justice (Greg) of Canton, GA, Debra Marquardt (Jack) of South Bend, IN, Diane Rapp (Murray) of Alexandria, VA and Kevin Schroepfer (Lauren) of Gainesville, FL; sister, Jo-Ann Hollman (Jeff); nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Alex (Ashley), Sean (Alyssa), Kristen, Nicole, Brooke, Blake, Cooper, Kylie and Payton and his loyal friend and companion, his dog Ben.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Avenue, with Dr. Dan G. Johnson officiating. Gator and tropical attire are encouraged. A “Tailgate & Toast” casual gathering for family and friends will follow the service and church reception.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish, may make a contribution to the Education Foundation of Alachua County designated for the John J. Schroepfer Memorial Scholarship Fund, 2802 NE 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32641.
