Janet Lynn Petruch's Obituary
Janet Lynn Petruch, 68, of Newberry, FL died Saturday, January 21, 2023, in Gainesville, FL. Janet was born January 16, 1955, in Pittsburgh, PA to Robert C. and June Fleck Knauss. She worked most of her life as an executive assistant in healthcare. She married the love of her life, George J. Petruch, Jr. in 1977. Together, they had a son, Andrew, of whom she was very proud.
Janet, more affectionately known to the family as Grandma, was an exceptional homemaker and interior decorator. She had an eye for beautiful things and had a talent for transforming ordinary spaces into homey and welcoming environments. Janet also loved to crack jokes and have fun, and she was known to be quick-witted and lively! Janet’s spirit of generosity was one of her most notable attributes. She exuded thoughtfulness, especially with her grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil. Janet had a special bond with her granddaughter, Riley, and the family jokes that, aside from George, Riley was her bestie. Grandma and Riley loved tea parties and playing dress up together. Janet’s relationship with her Lord and Savior came from a family legacy of salvation. It was the most precious gift of inheritance she gave to her son and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Susan Knauss Dixon. Janet is survived by her loving husband, George Petruch, Jr., son, Andrew (Deanna) Petruch, brother, Robert Knauss, and grandchildren, Riley and Lincoln.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 29, 2023, at 4:00 PM at Destiny Community Church 20820 W. Newberry Rd. Newberry, FL. 32669
