James Michael Mulligan's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Michael Mulligan on October 16, 2024. He was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. Jim was born on December 17, 1966, in Johnstown, PA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne [Salem] Mulligan, father, T. Wayne Mulligan and Kathleen [O'Malley] Mulligan, his adoptive mother who raised him with his father from the age of two after Joanne passed away. Surviving family members include beloved sister and brother, Vicki [Steve] Colligan and Tom Mulligan Jr., and nephews Michael, Matthew and Liam, who affectionately referred to him as Uncle Jimbo.
Jim spent his school years living in Johnstown, PA and Miami Beach, FL, then moved to Gainesville and graduated from the University of Florida in 1988. He was a lifelong devoted Gator fan and made Gainesville his permanent home. Upon graduation he launched a successful career as owner of Gold Rush Pawn and was well known in the community. A very compassionate man, he was always first to help those in need.
Spending time with friends was the most important aspect of Jim's life and he was blessed with many caring friends. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed hours playing the guitar. He always had a good time trying his luck at blackjack and craps in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Hollywood, FL. Jim loved sharing a meal with friends and family and always insisted on picking up the tab.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life in early 2025 with details to follow. Consider making a donation to Ronald McDonald House, a charity near and dear to Jim's heart at rmhc.org.
