James Tilman Gay, 76, resident of Archer, Florida, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016, following a long illness. Mr. Gay, was born in Trenton, Florida and had lived in this area his entire life. He was a brick mason, owner of Gay Mas Read Obituary
Read about Tillie this morning in yesterday's paper. I am very sorry for your loss. I hired Tillie several years ago when we were building the block wall for Broadmoar subdivision along West Newberry Road. I found him to be an expert craftsman, and a hard worker. He went on to help us lay the brick on the three Centroplex buildings bordering 43rd Ave just South of 39th, several new classrooms at Lake Butler Elementary School, lay brick and block on the new Ocala Police Headquarters, and with many other masonry projects. My business partner David Liston and I often speak fondly of Tillie, and are saddened by his passing. Now, each time we pass by one of these projects that He was a part of, we will no doubt think of him and the contributions he has made to our community.
