I am saddened to have just learned of Jack's death, and offer my sincere condolences to his wife, children, and grands. I will echo the sentiments of others who have noted Jack's humility, his kindness, his friendliness, and his congenial and laid-back personality. I looked forward to my conversations and meetings with Jack over the past couple of years, and always came away from them with an appreciation of his easy-going amiability, his kind words, and his immediate and often unsolicited offers of assistance. It was a real pleasure to talk with him, and I'm sorry that I won't be able to do so again. We've lost a good one, and you'll be missed, Jack.

At 61 years old Mr Jack allowed my boyfriend John Hudson to take me (Lori) to hunt his property. I got my first huge Osceola turkey...10 1/2 inch beard. Also let me deer hunt and got a good doe. John and I were thrilled. Jack will forever be missed. Thete is a hole in John's heart, he admired, loved and respected his friend. R.I.P. Jack

I just learned Jack passed away. Trying to think of a memory of Jack to share and thinking of the many conversations with him over, perhaps the last 30 years, the memory that stands out the most is not an action or event, but his kindness and laid-back, friendly spirit and that he always was willing to help, if asked. I think that is what I will remember most about Jack. I could relay a funny story and there are certainly those to recall; but in all he did, he had humility, a caring nature and in business, he had integrity and the sense that things should always be fair for all parties. I have always admired him for that.

Mr Jack will be greatly missed by everyone. He was the most selfless person I knew. I loved him coming to Newberry and checking our syrup making skills and making sure we did it right. Gonna miss you for now Jack. Hope to see you with Jesus one day. Prayers to all of the family that he loved!

To the family of Mr. Whitehurst, My thoughts and prayers are with you all during your time of sorrow. My heart is broken as I remember many times helping the company with making sure it was in compliance with FDOT regulations.
