MELROSE BAY
One late afternoon, it was sunny and hot,
A kayak pulled quietly onto the beach of Melrose Bay.
Amber, my dog, and I, had enjoyed the water a lot.
We were basking in the sinking sun after happy play.
A gentle man with kayak in tow stepped onto the beach.
His radiant smile and eyes made us feel welcomed and at ease.
My pooch was resting on the sand but not within close reach.
She approached the man with curiosity, and he said “Please”,
“May I pet your dog? She is beautiful and brings a smile to my face”.
This was the beginning of our friendship – loving, deep, and free.
We ended up sharing a coffee and chat at his friend’s place.
I cherish memories of countless walks and talks followed by tea.
I cherish my friendship with Jack.
