To George
As I wandered around and sifted through my memories of you, I came to the realization that your friendship has impacted so many aspects of my life. This realization was galvanized as I wandered around the house pondering the times we shared, in an effort to write this. I kept running into things that are everyday normal items in our home, indeed, even parts of our home are there, because you were here.
When I met you nearly two decades ago, it was my responsibility to train you as a new nurse in the ICU, you were solid, dependable, and tough in a pinch (I still can’t believe that the patient that bit that chunk out of your arm and swallowed it, survived lol). It is not lost on me however, that due to the wisdom, and knowledge, you imparted on me since that time, you have always been a mentor as well as my friend.
Knowing you and Elsa was also positive on my family, with things like the Green Mamba, Bellamy Forge, and days at the range, playing a part in our children’s lives. More importantly, you both are also responsible for Lisa and I experiencing some of the worlds most amazing places, cultures, cuisines, and of course libations.
The tales of the adventures you and Elsa experienced, made us go places that we had never heard of, never would have gone to, and places that most people will never know of. We are richer for the experiences we have already had, and we will be thinking of both of you as we go and experience some of the other treasures you told us of.
I can easily speak to numerous deep philosophical conversations, days at the range, kayaking, hiking, innumerable dining experiences, but I realize I could do so for hours. So I will close with expressing my eternal gratitude for the night you ruined most beers for me by taking me to a real beer tasting, and most importantly, making sure I made it home safe.
Thanks for the memories George
Your friend
Wes
