Fred J. Cork Junior's Obituary
Fred J. Cork Junior peacefully passed away on April 7, 2024, to be reunited with his Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born on June 2, 1947, and graduated from Hampden Dubose Academy in 1965. He attended Florida State University and graduated in 1969. He then served in the US Army from 1969 to 1971.
Upon returning to Gainesville, he joined his brother Gary Junior as a partner in their family's office furniture business, The Office Mart and Contrax Furnishings. The company supplied schools throughout Florida with a wide range of educational furniture.
Cork was active in community affairs and ran for Alachua County Commissioner in 1978. He was a man of unwavering faith and a member of Westside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Connie Junior, his son Joshua Junior, his daughter, Sara Junior Steinhoff and son-in-law Edward Steinhoff.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Fred J. Junior and Waive Junior, his four sisters, Barbara Mixson, Sue Mixson, Dixie Guinn, and Carole Williamson, and his brother, Gary Junior.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, 1:00 pm at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Micanopy, Florida.
