Terry and I will remember Fred as the neighbor who introduced us to the Marlboro Farms neighborhood! He wanted to make sure we knew about all the special features of the neighborhood; the trails, the horses, the association... and show us his RV! Terry and I ended up buying an RV in part because of Fred's stories of traveling. We will miss his neighborly updates and his help when we needed a tractor!
Fred had a ton of wood that he chopped a few years back, and I talked him into taking some of the wood to a family in Newberry that had no heat in their trailer, except for a working fireplace. He was somewhat shocked to see folks in such dire need. I know that it made him glad that he helped out, and mentioned how it sure made him count his blessings. Speaking of blessings, Julia was the blessing and love of his life. He and I shared stories of dealing with a loved one with Alzheimers. Normally Fred was stoic and could be a little gruff around the edges - but not when he was talking about Julia! He was a man in love, a poet, and profoundly grateful for her in his life.
He will be missed.
