Emma Lee Crawford's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce that Emma passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the age of 76 after an extended illness.
She was predeceased by her mother and father, Norma I. and Dennis W. Crawford and husband Manny Goettel. She is survived by her sister Denise and her husband Carmelo Basile, nieces Nicole Irving, Liz Mastrobattisto, nephew David Basile and their spouses. Emma had 7 great-nephews Tyler, Nicholas, & Joshua Irving; Joseph & Matteo Basile, Wilder Mastrobattisto and great-niece, Waverly Mastrobattisto.
Emma was a 1966 graduate of Arlington Senior High School and graduated from Pratt Institute School of Art & Design in 1970 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts / Book Arts, MS Packaging / Communications Design. Although she lived in Brooklyn and Manhattan for many years, she was a Hudson Valley/Poughkeepsie, NY native. She was an award-winning graphic/package designer, dollmaker, jewelry designer, artist and teacher. She was an active member of Arts Mid-Hudson (formerly the Dutchess County Arts Council), Barrett Art Center, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She was also affiliated with the New York Society of Illustrators and the Poughkeepsie Community Printmaking Studio, a project of the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center.
Funeral services will be private.
