It is with great sadness that we announce that Emma passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the age of 76 after an extended illness. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Norma I. and Dennis W. Crawford and husband Mann Read Obituary
emma signed my acceptance letter to pratt which is where it all began for me. in the years that followed we became brooklyn friends and then our careers merged. she and manny followed me from my first professional design job to my last. i am blessed to have known her. they were good times, i am so thankful she knew how much i cared for her and appreciated all that she brought to my life. rest in peace my friend.
I remember the great multi-talented Emma. We worked together in NYC for many years, where Emma successfully created beautiful and unique graphics and packaging design for several of my business clients. I'll never forget the intense times we had in NYC, where we helped each other get through tough times with laughter. However, my best memory is discovering we were more than friends, and actually relatives! Not connecting that her wonderful sister Denise had married my amazing cousin Carmen a few years earlier, we ran into each other at a family event in Brooklyn. What a fantastic surprise for both of us to be part of the fabulous Basile family! What a stellar and talented life, as Emma was always there for all!
This news comes to me with profound sadness. We grew up as great friends. Can remember many ‘ hanging out ‘ get together at Emma’s house; her parents were great people. Emma will always be on my mind.
