Earl Stanley Cox's Obituary
Earl Stanley Cox born October 5th 1956 in San Diego, passed away on July 18th 2022. He was 65 years old at the time of his death.
Mr. Cox worked in the tobacco, and watermelon fields as a teenager, afterward he did a lot of traveling,
mostly through hitchhiking. He is quoted as saying that Wyoming is one of the most beautiful states.
When he settled down in Gilchrist County he started working for Coca Cola as a truck driver delivering to
vending machines around the Gainesville area. He later worked hauling concrete pillars at a facility
known as Southern Precast, and then later at Pritchett Trucking. He was almost always a truck driver
throughout his life.
Living in Florida he loved going to the springs and enjoyed scaring his family by disappearing only to be
found sitting on the bottom of the boil. His many activities involved going knee boarding, playing
basketball, fishing, boating, and helping his children and grandchildren.
In his later years he fed raccoons and possums on his back porch, and he would frequently let his
children know when he was grocery shopping for his `'pets".
His biggest loves in life were his children and grandchildren. Even from across the country he checked in
on his youngest daughter to make sure she wasn't in the way of any brush fires.
He was a very simple man, some called him stubborn, some called him tough. He was considered by his
family to be both and more. He was always ready to crack a joke, the funny stories that included him
were never hard to find in the thoughts of those he loved and those who loved him. He frequently cared
for those around him in many ways, whether this included giving fish to his neighbors from his pond,
mowing his neighbor's lawn, or caring for his neighbors' horses. He was seen as a father figure to many
Who did not have someone like him In their lives.
He is survived by his oldest son, Samuel Earl (Jerria) Cox (Michael), his daughters, Julie Ann Shelley, Sarah AIIison Lorenzen (Edmund), and his four granddaughters and three grandsons. He is also survived by his father, Daniel Milling, his sisters Tammy Wilkerson(Jacob), and Jeannie Perdue (Walter), as well as his brothers Paul Prentice and Eric Cox, along with his wife Marie.
As a final display to his amazing personality, his nickname was "Earl the Squirrel". He will be deeply missed.
