Douglas Paul Keefer's Obituary
Douglas Paul Keefer passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at home surrounded by his family after an extended illness. He was born May 18, 1957 in Meadville, Pennsylvania to Arthur L. and Carol S. Kroh Keefer. He graduated from Central Gwinnett High School, attended the University of Georgia, and graduated from Nova University. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. His 30 year career at Nationwide Insurance allowed him to have many cherished lifelong friendships and he also maintained a very close bond with his parents and siblings. He was extremely humbled and blessed by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers from friends and acquaintances throughout his illness.
Doug is survived by his wife, Trish Keefer of Gainesville; mother, Sue Keefer of Rimersburg, PA; brother, Arthur L. Keefer, Jr. of Rimersburg, PA; sisters, Patricia S. Jacobs of Warner Robins, GA and Kathy F. Barker of Grayson, GA, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, in addition to many deer, turkeys, wild hogs, a bear, and fresh water and salt water fish.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 9700 W Newberry Rd, with Pastor Alan Struckmeyer officiating, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Doug would be honored by donations to Abiding Savior Lutheran Church/Meals of Hope, 9700 W Newberry Rd, Gainesville, FL 32606, in Doug’s memory
