Delores Johnson Hawley's Obituary
Delores Johnson Hawley of Gainesville FL and formerly of Centralia/Salem IL passed away May 31, 2017 at Terrace Health and Rehabilitation. She celebrated her 90th birthday on May 10. She is survived by her children, Ray (Dianne) Hawley; Dennis (Carole) Hawley; Phillip (Janice) Hawley, all of Gainesville FL vicinity; daughter-in-law, Karen Moore Hawley of Satellite Beach, FL; brothers, Bob Johnson; Don (Becky) Johnson; Cal (Sandy) Johnson; Val (Jackie) Johnson; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a beloved aunt, Isabel Maroon Baltzell (who will be celebrating 100 years in August).
She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Calvin Hawley; son Michael C. Hawley; granddaughter, Jennifer Hawley Clift; great-great grandson, Stevie Morton; father, Sylvester Johnson; mother, Frances Maroon Johnson; brother Jack Johnson; sisters-in-law Mary Lamb Johnson and Betty Hofstetter Johnson.
Delores and family moved from Salem IL to Gainesville FL in 1959 and enjoyed 58 years living in the vicinity. She retired at age 75 as Manager, American Self Storage. Previous employment included First National Bank and University of Florida, Finance & Accounting.
Delores was a faithful Christian and loved her church family at Pentecostals of Gainesville and her pastor and his wife, Jeffrey and Patty Arnold. Her favorite hobbies include sewing, cooking, traveling, and Precious Moments figurine collecting. She often said she had lived in a man’s world with five brothers and four sons.
She will be truly missed by the many people whose lives she touched over the years. The family will receive friends in a visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, June 5, at Williams-Thomas Westarea Funeral Home, 823 NW 143rd Street, Jonesville FL 32669. Funeral service will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 6, at Pentecostals of Gainesville, 8105 NW 23rd Avenue, Gainesville FL 32606 with Bishop Jeffrey Arnold and Pastor Jimmy Toney presiding.
