Deborah Burr Doss' Obituary
Deborah Burr Doss, age 67 of Gainesville passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023. She was born September 10, 1956 in Cumberland, Maryland to William Theodore and Kathryn Smith Burr.
Deborah graduated from Furman University and went on to receive her Ph.D. from Stanford University. She was a professor and lecturer most of her life. She was devoted to her faith, and very active in the Catholic Church, administering communion to the sick, completing Ministry Formation, and leading faith groups.
Deborah survived a cancer that was considered incurable, in 1996. She was incredibly loving, kind and empathetic. She put everyone she ever met before herself. She enjoyed learning, reading and she loved to travel.
Deborah is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Hani Doss; three children, Charles Doss, Natalie Doss, Mark Doss and brother, Tom Burr.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, December 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Ave. with Fr. Alberto Esposito celebrant. Interment will follow in Countryside Cemetery, 10926 NW 39th Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: Doctors Without Borders, https://donate.doctorswithoutborders.org/.
