I'm so sorry to hear of Debbie's passing. We were childhood friends in Asheville. I lived on Baker Drive and her family property was on the corner of Baker and Mountain Terrace.
Debbie was always very kind to me. I was a tall kid and she always envied my ability to run fast. It was her way of complimenting me and even wrote a sweet note in my yearbook about it.
Debbie was the smartest girl I knew and I am not surprised that she excelled in life as she did. She remained humble.
We played together a lot as children. Her dog "Snoopy" and my dog "Happy" were in love. They made a beautiful dog couple.
It was sweet to read that she ministered to others so unselfishly...no doubt one of her spiritual gifts.
May the Lord comfort her family.

Dear Charles, Natalie, Mark: You may have never met or heard of me, but I was a high school friend of your Mom's. When she played with the band, she was first clarinet, I was first trumpet. We were in many classes together and she always outshone me academically. (She got into Stanford, I did not! I did manage a Ph.D. in linguistics at Georgetown.) I had the honor of sharing with her the title "Most Intellectual" (I think it was?) in our senior yearbook. We kept in touch off and on through the years. I always admired her, and was delighted to re-establish contact more recently and to hear more about her spiritual journey. She wrote with a joy and love that moves me to give thanks to God. Her departure this soon is almost unbelievable. May her memory guide you in the days ahead, and the warmth of her love always strengthen and surround you.
Hani, I know that at least we have heard of each other. I pray for God's peace and comfort for you and yours, my brother, in this very difficult time and in the days ahead. --Steve Quakenbush
