My brother David, What can I say......First of all one of the most caring and empathetic human biengs I ever knew and growing up in the country elements near the now Maumee Bay state park it was always hunting, fishing and trapping that filled all of us three brothers during our childhood. Davey (was what he was affectionately called by the family) grew up loving any books or television programs relating to underwater life and studies and of course his favorite oceanographer Jacque Cousteau was the centerfold he had pinned to his bedroom wall.
Some of my fondest memories was being with David & Donna when we would all meet up at my parents somewhat spartan cabin in Northern Michigan when life seemed a whole bunch simpler for us all, with the closeness felt by our family at that time was quite special.
Then there was the Indian artifact hunting along creeks and farms as well as the lake erie shores with David and a friend (Roger) discoverng an Indian village site in Curtice, Ohio that produced 100s of arrowhwads, bird points, scrapers and a host of relics from the indigenous people who lived and traded 100s of years ago in the 'Old Black Swamp' area where we lived. Even though I could certainly be a pain for them to take along having tons of questions and constant badgering until I found my first arrowhead with his patience and help, Davey would never say 'no' to my request to tag along for the incredible training seminar for me that was about to take place.
I cannot really look at Davey's life without mentioning that he had faced a number of physical trials that would have kept most of us feeling down and asking God 'why me' but not Davey. At the young age of 16 years old rocking a pair of crutches from hip surgery which seemed like a very extended time he did not just survive that problem, but thrived and still got down into the ditches and trapped, hunted and fished just like the rest of us.
There are so many more wonderful memories of my loving and kind hearted brother, I hope that anyone who knew him back then and up to now will agree that the world has lost one of the GOOD ones!
Your Little Bro Mark
