Claudine Pendleton's Obituary
Claudine Pendleton died May 27, 2016, eight days short of her
98th birthday. She was born in rural SW Virginia and raised in Roanoke. Mrs. Pendleton was a loving mother, grandmother and friend for life, giving generously of her time both to her family and to the many friends she had made in the seven cities in which she lived. She continued to make new friends until the last days of her life. The 21 cards she received on her 90th birthday attest to the affection so many felt for her.
She was active in her communities and gave in only reluctantly to the infirmities of age and macular degeneration. Above all, her wonderful mind which stayed clear to the end, and her intellectual curiosity enabled her to grow from a small-town unsophisticated girl to an urbane, self-confident woman.
Mrs. Pendleton was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Roy Pendleton, and is survived by her daughter Rita Henderson, former son-in-law David Henderson, both of Gainesville, granddaughters, Kristin Hamlett (Steve) of Austin TX and Caren Henderson of Denver CO and niece, Mary Kesler(Don) of Forest, VA.
A memorial service will be held at the Village Chapel on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her remembrance to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606 or other charity of your choice.
