Charles Leroy McGill's Obituary
Charles Leroy McGill of Alachua, Florida died Monday, October 1, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital. He was 66.
Charles was born in Sparr, Florida in 1952. Early in his life, Charles moved to Tampa, Florida where he was raised. He returned to Gainesville at the age of 14. Charles worked as a Forensic Artist and a Correction Officer in Putnam Correctional Institute.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham McGill and Carrie Lee (Holmes) McGill. Brothers who proceeded him in death: Clarence McGill, Lee Andrew McGill, Simon Peter McGill and sister, Mary McGill Smith.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife Deneace Joshua-McGill; two daughters, Celeste (Michael) Rutledge and Debbie LeAnn McGill; two sons, Michael Charles McGill and Allan Curtis McGill; two step-daughters, Tresa Petty-Edward of Alachua, FL and Carmen (William) Scott of Lake City, FL; four grandchildren, Erryana Whitfield, Linayah Rutledge, Tyson McGill and Michael Rutledge, Jr. and two step-granddaughters, Erial N. M. Edwards and Ariel Scott; one sister, Doris McGill Livingston of Alachua, four brothers, Abraham McGill, Jr. of Newberry, FL, Joe Cepheus McGill of St. Peterburg, FL, and Johnell McGill of Tampa, FL. and a host of loving family members, friends and a loving worldwide family of spiritual brothers and sisters.
A memorial service for Charles Leroy McGill will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 12254 N. W. 140th Street, Alachua, Florida. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.
